OBS Story - Lindsey Bassett

OBS Case Study - Lindsey

We came to a Wednesday session when my baby, Ada, was 9 days old after I'd been experiencing a lot of nipple pain and damage. Prior to that point we'd had lots of midwives and health professionals checking our latch and while I was getting some helpful suggestions for improvement I was also regularly hearing, it looks okay to me.  [The OBS facilitator] noticed she might have tongue tie. Because of that suggestion we were able to go on to get a fairly severe tongue tie diagnosed by going to the JR as advised by yourselves and went on to have a division.

We then came along to the Sunday session a few times and were loaned a pump to keep my supply up and given support to help with the latch while my baby was getting used to feeding after the division.

The support we had from you made feeding a lot more manageable while we were working through the feeding problems, it became my default go to for help and everyone we spoke to was so incredibly kind and helpful.

Without your support it would have been incredibly difficult for me to sustain breastfeeding, I was getting to crunch point. The support we had from you also made feeding a lot more manageable while we were working through the feeding problems, it became my default go to for help and everyone we spoke to was so incredibly kind and helpful. The sessions we went to were always busy, but the facilitators always made time for everyone, even if it meant going over the session time which I think just shows how high the demand is.

I think it's thanks to OBS that were still breastfeeding and all is now going well (she's 10 weeks). Feel very lucky to have such amazing support in Oxford.
